How granite slabs are made

Granite is a natural stone which has found its usage in ceramics, home interior, commercial building & interiors and construction sector. We can see uses of granite in our daily lives. Some of the popular usages are in flooring, granite kitchen countertops, bathrooms, patios, staircases. Granite is also used for buildings, bridges and monuments.

Therefore, it is crucial to understand how this natural stone is processed and how Aryan Tiles have established its supremacy in the granite manufacturing process.

Quality is a crucial factor in our manufacturing process and we adhere to strict quality standards in all our granite making processes.

Granite goes through a transformation process from quarrying the rock to its final product stage.

Granite Quarrying:

Granite is a natural stone created by slowly cooling magma deep beneath the earth's surface. India has one of the biggest reserves for granite. Aryan Tiles is proud to source and quarry all our granites from various parts of India, such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and majorly Rajasthan.

Wire saws or diamond wire saws are used to quarry (mine) granite from open-pit mines using highly advanced equipment. Granite is drilled, blasted, and chiselled from quarries in big blocks, then cut into small working slabs with specific milling tools.

Much of the stone is sold as blocks after quarrying and is cut into slabs or broken into smaller goods like sidewalks, wall blocks, and paving stones. Our quality control team inspects the blocks against international quality standards. We keep aside any blocks containing impurities or faults for additional quality testing. The blocks that pass the quality checks are sent to the cutting machines to begin the sawing step.

Quality Selection of the quarry block:

All our granite blocks are selected with strict quality standards to deliver only the best quality granite for our customers.

Block selection is a crucial component of granite manufacturing that requires a great deal of experience and care. Therefore, we have a highly technical team for quality control and each block gets selected under their strict supervision.

Fractures, infiltrations, and mineral inclusions must all be identified inside the block; otherwise, the slabs may be unstable, discoloured, or 'defective' after cutting.

However, it's crucial to remember that each natural stone has its unique characteristics, and each block must be graded using various criteria.

Granite Sawing:

Granite blocks were typically machine-cut to generate slabs of the thickness, sizes and finishes required for final usage in client projects. The blocks are now sliced into slabs by contemporary wire cutting machines due to advanced technologies.

These slabs can be cut to various widths and customised to meet the needs of the client. This high-speed innovative technology produces excellent sawing quality and has substantially expanded Aryan Tiles' production capacity.

The result is a natural finish with a smooth yet slightly rough surface. This can be a final finish, depending on the granite slabs’ intended usage and if there is a client requirement for smoother or more varied finish then the final finishing stage is done through other treatments.

Granite Finishing: There are several finishes that can be customized according to the end-usage of the client’s industry that are done to enhance or improve granite’s appearance. Some of the finishes offered by Aryan tiles:

Polished: Polished finish gives a glossy and gleaming sheen appearance to the granite. The granite with polished finish works perfectly for indoor spaces.

Honed: This finish gives a matte appearance and smooth finish. It does not have a high shine as compared to the polish finish.

3D: This finish gives a striking visual appearance to the granite slabs; It is perfect for spaces that needs to be one of a kind.

We are proud to deliver the premium quality as all our granite goes through a rigorous quality control in all the steps of granite manufacturing process. Premium quality is not our service but our guarantee.
